Further north on the Alaska highway you reach a nice lake. It is pretty quiet there, and a nice little settlement on a peninsula invite for a longer stay. By the way, highway, you can see the road conditions in the front of the picture.

Wenn man die gesamte Strecke mit über 3000 km anschaut, ist der Teil von Whitehorse nach Dawson eher ein Ausflug. Rund 500 km vollgepackt mit super Landschaft und Tieren. Einmal kam eine Grizzly Mutter mit Schwung aus dem Busch über die Straße, der einzige Nachwuchs von ihr war wesentlich klüger und wartete, bis das Auto stand.

If you look at the entire route with over 3000 km, the part from Whitehorse to Dawson is rather an excursion. Around 500 km packed with great scenery and animals. Once, a Grizzly mother came out of the bush with vigor across the street, the only one cub of her was much smarter and waited for the car to stop.

Wohin man in Whitehorse am Yukon schaut, überall sind Biber mit Ästen oder sonst was beschäftigt. Diese Tiere sind den Umgang mit Menschen gewohnt, die Fluchtdistanz ist jedenfalls deutlich geringer, als die ihrer Kollegen irgendwo in der Wildnis. Recht verhungert schauen die in der Stadt Mitte Mai auch nicht aus.  

Wherever you look in Whitehorse on the Yukon, beavers are busy with branches or anything else. These animals are used to dealing with people, the escape distance is certainly much lower than that of their colleagues somewhere in the wild. Beaver in town do not look starved in the mid of may.

Ich war ja schon sehr oft in Britisch Kolumbien, aber noch nie so weit im Norden wie bei diesem Trip zum Yukon. Schon auf dem Highway 37 hatten wir einige Begegnungen mit Bären. Noch weiter nördlich kamen dann noch Elche und anderes Getier dazu.

I've been in British Columbia many times, but never before so far north as on this trip to the Yukon. Already on Highway 37 we had some encounters with bears. Further north we saw moose and other animals.

Part two of the summary of our trip to the Yukon. The temperature decreases, especially at night. In Whitehorse we took over the motorhome.

Ein anderes Bild aus dem Flugzeug, die Stadt Lytton. Wenn Sie auf dem Highway Nummer 1 in Richtung Norden fahren, müssen Sie diese Stadt passieren! Hier ist der Zusammenfluss von Fraser und Thompson River. Der Fraser kommt von oben, der Thompson von rechts. Hier im Frühjahr sind beide Flüsse ziemlich matschig. Später im Jahr ist der Thompson unglaublich blau, aber der Fraser immer noch schmutzig. 

Der Thompson River ist ein sehr bekannter Steelhead Fluss, aber mit einem späten run. Im Oktober hat man immer eine gute Chance für einen unglaublichen Kämpfer auf einer Trockenfliege.

Another picture from the plane, the city of Lytton. If you drive north on Highway Number 1, you have to pass this city! Here is the confluence of Fraser and Thompson River. The Fraser comes from the top, the Thompson from the right. Here in spring, both rivers are pretty muddy. Later in the year, the Thompson is unbelievably blue, but the Fraser is still dirty.

The Thompson river is a very famous Steelhead river, but with a late run. In october you always have a good chance for an unbelievable fighter on a dry fly.

Diesen Überflug über Grönland hatte ich schon mehrere dutzend Male, allerdings im September. Dann sind die Gewässer um die Küste frei. Hier, mitte Mai, ist alles Stein und Bein gefroren.

Die Rheinmündung in den Bodensee. Große, schwimmende Waschanlagen holen den Kies 
und Sand aus dem Mündungsbereich. Ohne diese Maßnahme würde sich ein Stau bilden und der Durchgang wäre versperrt. 
The influence of the Rhine in to the Lake Constance. Large, floating dredge´s pick up the gravel and sand from the estuarine area. Without this action, a jam would form and the passage would be blocked.
