Der Zusammenfluss von Fraser und Thompson River - Confluence of Fraser and Thompson River in BC

Confluence of Fraser and Thompson River in BC

Another picture from the plane, the city of Lytton. If you drive north on Highway Number 1, you have to pass this city! Here is the confluence of Fraser and Thompson River. The Fraser comes from the top, the Thompson from the right. Here in spring, both rivers are pretty muddy. Later in the year, the Thompson is unbelievably blue, but the Fraser is still dirty.
The Thompson river is a very famous Steelhead river, but with a late run. In october you always have a good chance for an unbelievable fighter on a dry fly.

I already had this flight over Greenland several dozen times, but in September. Then the waters around the coast are free. Here, in the middle of May, everything is totally frozen.

A reasonably clean bottom of a river requires a certain flow rate. If this becomes too slow, more and more residues are deposited, the quality decreases.

Es sieht gut aus? - Looking Good?

A good handful of sediment out of the Wiesent is bursting with life. The number of green drake nymphs promises a top green drake season.

If possible, start your fishing season before spring runoff. Once that starts, the rivers may not be fishable for weeks.

Die neue Rheinmündung in den Bodensee - The New Mouth of the Rhine into Lake Constance

Wochenbild - 13 - 2018 - weekly picture

The influence of the Rhine in to the Lake Constance. Large, floating dredge´s pick up the gravel and sand from the estuarine area. Without this action, a jam would form and the passage would be blocked.
